Finance houses have come under fire for "the complex processes" customers have to go through to apply for car finance.

A survey carried out by financial technology company Intelligent Environments found that 50% of drivers think vehicle finance agreements are "complicated and difficult" to understand.

Car finance is ‘too complicated and difficult’ for consumers

Auto Trader, the U.K.'s largest online auto site, announced that it will terminate its six-year-long relationship with  MotoNovo Finance, and no longer supply the stock feed of the auto finance site.


Until now, Auto Trader had been displaying MotoNovo's automobile listings through its stock feed, which included the beta version of findandfundmycar.com


The existing arrangement between Auto Trader and MotoNovo will continue until the date of termination - set for July 21. After that date, dealerships on findandfundmycar will have to look elsewhere for their stock feed requirements.


As Auto Trader sits at the top of the tree when it comes to helping dealers sell their automobiles, the termination will certainly raise a few eyebrows in the industry. MotoNovo said that it has well developed plans to support dealers to achieve this.

The British Dealer News Industry Awards 2017 were held at the Chesford Grange Hotel, Kenilworth, on the evening of Sunday 15th January.

The event was attended by more than 300 invited guests and was hosted by Steve Parrish.

Auto Trader has terminated its contract to supply a stock feed to MotoNovo ahead of the finance house launching an online used car website later this year called findandfundmycar.com


Auto Trader wrote to MotoNovo cancelling a contract that was signed six years ago with Carlyle Finance before it rebranded to MotoNovo. 


As things stand now, a MotoNovo dealer can load stock onto Auto Trader's platform and this feeds into a beta version of MotoNovo's findandfundmycar.com used car website.


Following the termination on 21st July, dealers on findandfundmycar.com will not be able to use Auto Trader to do this and will need to find an alternative. MotoNovo said that it has well developed plans to support dealers to achieve this.
