MotoNovo Name LATCH their Charity of the Year

MotoNovo Finance has announced that LATCH, the Welsh Children’s Cancer Charity is our nominated charity partner of the year.

LATCH provides emotional and financial support for children and their families undergoing treatment at the Children’s Hospital for Wales.  This vital support includes on-site family accommodation, social work services, family support workers, financial grants, benefits advice, advocacy, signposting and much more.

Following the announcement, MotoNovians from the Corporate Social Responsibility Committee (CSR) met with Denise Henderson, LATCH General Manager and Stephen Price, LATCH Public Relations, Communication and Events Officer to discuss a programme of fundraising events and activities for the coming year.

Denise Henderson said: “Without the support of businesses such as MotoNovo, and members of the public across Wales, LATCH simply wouldn’t be able to offer its essential support services for families at one of their greatest times of need. On behalf of our families, I’d like to extend sincere thanks to the passionate workforce at MotoNovo Finance and wish them every success with their fundraising!”

Each year, in the catchment area that stretches from Chepstow in the South to Aberystwyth in the North of Wales, 70 children are diagnosed with some form cancer.  LATCH needs to raise around £700,000 a year to cover the costs of supporting these families, and the charity is entirely dependent on donations and fundraising activities of volunteers.

MotoNovo Key Accounts Team Manager Becky Parker is a member of the Corporate Social Responsibility Committee (CSR). She said: “We’re really honoured to be working in partnership with LATCH and to help raise awareness of the heartening work this very special charity does to help countless families.”

More children than ever are surviving cancer. Thanks to advances in medical technology and the amazing work of charities like LATCH, 8 in ten now survive compared to fewer than 3 in ten in the late 1960s.
